Villa at the coast in Scheveningen-Bad,The Hague, Netherlands
Our house is a free-standing, spacious mansion with a space in front, separated from the street by a high hedge. Along the south-side there is a green-zone with bamboo, reeds and grasses. It origines from 1879 in a basic art-deco style, was altered in 1906; we renovated it in 1995, combining the old with the modern. The color-scheme we developed for the warm interior of the house was very much influenced by our trip through Mexico and Guatemala.
There are three floors:
on the 1st floor is a spacious livingroom with a fireplace/library/dining space adjoining a balcony at the south-west side for dining outside.
Please note: the floor of this big room has recently been waxed, so we ask you to bring soft indoor-shoes/slippers to keep the floor OK.
Also on this floor: a well equipped modern kitchen and a toilet. In the south-east corner is an office-space.
On the 2nd floor are 2 bedrooms [2 x double bed] , a toilet and a shower.
Although the house is just 5 min away from the beach, it's environment is urban, with traffic noises.
On the groundfloor is a small consultancy space, a bathroom with bath/shower/washing/drying units. Wardrobe and toilet. Here is the back-entrance from/to the bicycle-shed, where you find 4 bicycles.
The main part of the groundfloor however is occupied by an artist's studio&workshop. Like the two work-spaces on this and the 1st floor, the studio is a professional space which we cannot afford to share with others. We regret this, but the house for the rest will welcome our guests heartily!
For the same reason our computers will not be available.
Of course there is free WiFi.

Lifestyle
Hi, we are an energetic professional couple, still working and eager to meet new experiences in the fields of nature and culture, all over the world. Exchanging homes is an exiting way to do that. Kees [1941] is a painter/sculptor and has a great studio in our home at the ground floor. Mariette [1953] has a practice for philosophy and is parttime manager communication.
Together we have two sons [1993, 1991] who live in Amsterdam and Nottingham (UK)
They occasionally may visit us while abroad, but by now they do their own travels.
We share a broad interest in culture / architecture / film / art / literature / politics /nature / city-parcs / cuisine .....
Mariette loves jogging a few times per week and regularly does 17 miles-hikes in typical dutch landscapes all over the country. Loves reading, photography, plays piano and learning to play the bandoneon.
Kees practices Chi Cong / Tai Chi over many years. Loves playing chess and studies languages.
Since 2004 together we organize a filmclub for about 8 good friends every two month with dining and deep goiing discussion.
We love cultural and natural highlights and prefer to travel out of the regular
