Great Ocean Road, Australia

We have an architect designed ,split-level beach house in Anglesea, with fantastic views of the Surf Coast and a  native bush garden. It is situated on top of the hill adjacent to Angahook National Park . We enjoy sea breezes and the sound of pounding surf.

There is an outdoor teak  table and chairs with umbrellas and a gas BBQ.
The house has a relaxed coastal ambience having been recently renovated , excellent beds and European appliances .

Separate laundry with washing machine and dryer with direct access to an  outside clothes line.
Two bedrooms have a queen size bed whilst the other two have  king single beds.
There is good mobile phone reception, and the house has wifi.

The nearby local golf club offers hearty good value evening meals where you can watch the kangaroos graze
Bus services are available from Anglesea Village to points along the Great Ocean road and back to the major regional centre of Geelong (population 150,000) where frequent train services leave for Melbourne. Avalon airport outside Geelong offers domestic flights throughout Australia.

Neighborhood

About the neighborhood

Our neighbourhood is very quiet being near the national park and located at the highest point in Anglesea.

There are lots of ironbark trees, wattles and interesting Australian native flowers around  reflecting the environmental priorities  of the Anglesea community .
Our street  is removed from the activity surrounding the compact  shopping precinct and Great Ocean Road traffic but close enough for convenient access .
There are some permanent residents in the street but there are lots of holiday homes such as ours.
Anglesea itself is a seasonal town bordered by national park on three sides and the ocean on the fourth.
A small sleepy coastal village for most of the year it becomes a hive of  holidaymakers during summer and school holidays periods.
It hosts  a wildflower exhibition and a music festival in spring with a one-act play contest in August.
Weekly riverbank markets are held throughout summer selling local produce and assorted goods.
There are a range of cafes and casual restaurants, a good medical clinic, supermarket, chemist, organic food store and other shops /services.
Anglesea is widely known for its amazing tree lined undulating 18-hole golf course complete with wild kangaroos. Pop into the club bar in the late afternoon for a drink and watch the kangaroos hop about with their joeys

We are Lynda and Alan, a retired occupational therapist and accountant respectively. We have two adult children .
We have reached a stage in our lives ,when we are becoming less constrained and look forward to seeing more of the world ; especially Sweden and Germany where Alan has family roots .
Alan’s passions include literature and ancient / medieval history ; so Europe is a magnet and Lynda enjoys photography and cooking. We both love theatre, concerts and long walks along the many beaches.
We are quite particular people and you will find our home clean ,uncluttered and well maintained.
