Georgian House in Bath, Great Britain

Dear Friends
Our home is a Grade II Listed Georgian townhouse set in a quiet street in Bath, only 2 minutes’ walk from the City Centre, and the train station in one direction, and the open countryside a couple of minutes walk in the other direction.  We are perfectly located for you to enjoy all the delights that Bath and the surrounding area have to offer.

Our house has a sitting room opening through to dining room and kitchen, three double bedrooms, shower room and afamily bathroom. We have pretty gardens to the front and back of the house.

We are situated very centrally, on the south side of the City of Bath.  St Mark’s Road is less than a two minutes walk from Bath Spa train station, the local amenities in Widcombe High Street and the vast array of shopping facilities in the nearby City centre.  All around us are fabulous walks along the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath, the Skyline Walk of Bath’s hills and the beautiful ancient woodlands and National Trust-owned land surrounding Prior Park.

Bath is 90 minutes from London by train. It is easily accessible from Bristol or London Heathrow airports.  The city is a World Heritage Site and has Roman Baths which are 2,000 years old as well as a modern thermal spa with natural spa water.  Bath is famous for its well-preserved Georgian architecture: The Royal Crescent and the Circus being among the best examples. Retrace the steps of eighteenth century author Jane Austen, explore the roman city or pamper yourself at the roof top pool of the spa at 34 degrees centigrade with a panoramic view over the city. Bath has an historic abbey and a great rugby team.

There is plenty to see and do in the city, the centre of which is just couple of minutes walk away from our home. There is a wide range of small independent shops as well as the major chains. Bath has some of the southwest's finest restaurants (including the Michelin starred Bath Priory) as well as some excellent pubs and bistros. There is a wide range of art galleries and museums as well as lots of activites for children including the local sports and leisure complex and parks - all within an easy walk. Museums include architecture, fashion, astronomy and history as well as East Asian Art. The Theatre Royal often previews London’s West End shows (but with tickets at a much lower price!) and there are two cinemas in the city centre. There are excellent walks along the river or Kennet and Avon canal or around the Bath skyline. All of these are again only minutes walk from our home.  There are also two golf courses nearby.

Other attractions nearby include Bristol (15 mins by train), the Cotswolds and local countryside and historic houses such as Dyrham Park, Longleat and Stourhead and Westonbirt Arboreatum. Bristol has the SSGreat Britain and an excellent science and natural history museum as well as some great shops and an historic harbour. Stonehenge is also easily accessed by car or coach. There are beaches at Weston Super Mare and Weymouth accessible by train or a short drive. Devon and Cornwall and South Wales are only 90 minutes away by car.
The World Heritage City of Bath itself offers a vast choice of cultural, leisure, shopping and sporting facilities, with festivals of all kinds, all year round.  There is an excellent selection of restaurants, bars and cafes to suit all tastes.  On Saturday morning, you can visit the famous Bath Farmers’ Market in the old Green Park Station.
Bath is well supported by commuter links to both Bristol (10 minutes by train) and London Paddington (90 minutes by train). Trains depart to and from Paddington on a half hour basis throughout the day.

We hope you will consider our home exchange.

Best wishes,
Jess and Keith Palmer
