Beautiful Cosy Country House in Apulia

“Buongiorno a tutti!” (= hello everybody!).

Villa Ines is a charming country house located just minutes from the town of Foggia, one of Puglia's main cities. We're very close to the astonighing Gargano (1h by car). The house can accommodate up to ten people.

The house consists of a main room with fireplace, sofa bed, a full-optional kitchen (dishwasher, traditional & electric oven), dining room with all facilities (LCD television, home cinéma & Hifi). There are three bedrooms as well as a basement with a sofa bed. The house has two bathrooms (one of which with shower) as well as WiFi.

The apartment is very well-equipped and in the very close-by city of Foggia you'll find grocery stores, shopping centers, restaurants, etc.

Apulia and tourism, an unbreakable, winning combination for all budgets and tastes. Tourism is not only synonymous with the sea, beaches, and summer. In Apulia this sector stands out to the hills, villages, museums, and places of historical interest. Puglia can be visited 365 days a year. Maritime tourism is one part, perhaps the best known, and the most conspicuous, but not the only part. Food and wine tourism, nature and hiking tourism, along with cultural tourism, create a system that has put our region in the top 3 of the most visited regions, summer and otherwise.

Here's some general information about tourism in Apulia. Otherwise here's the Official website https://www.viaggiareinpuglia.it/en/homepage, available in many languages. See also this nice internet site: https://barbieintown.altervista.org/turismo-puglia/

The types of tourism in Apulia
What prevails in tourism in Apulia? As foretold, beach/summer tourism is the largest slice, but not the only one. Let's see how tourism in Puglia is structured.

1.1 Beach tourism in Puglia

It unravels among the most beautiful beaches in Puglia, from Gargano to Salento, from the land of Bari to the Brindisi area. It is a tourism that involves all social groups and all ages, singles, couples and families. The strong point is that the splendid sea is accompanied by delightful villages (such as Monopoli, Polignano a Mare, Vieste, Trani and Gallipoli), or large cities more or less distant from the sea (Bari, Taranto, Lecce and Brindisi). Services are essential, so the most popular destinations are those that manage to offer the comforts of home within walking distance of the sea, from gastronomy to shopping to art.

1.2 Food and wine tourism in Apulia

What vacation in Puglia would be without sampling local specialties? From farinella to orecchiette, from pasticciotto to panzerotti, via paposcia, focaccia, fish dishes and fried polenta. Food and wine tourism is mainly for discerning palates, who choose the right destinations where they can sample excellent local dishes. It is now one of the cornerstones of Puglia's tourism system. Food and wine tourism is the real driver of Puglia's tourism economy, characterized by 60 million monumental olive trees, 231 recognized traditional products, 8 PDO products (5 extra virgin olive oils, Pane di Altamura, Canestrato pugliese and Bella di Cerignola olive) and 29 DOC wines. Apulia's historic farms are considered the most beautiful in Italy.

1.3 Cultural tourism in Puglia

Puglia is not just sea and food, it's time to disprove that. The castles, basilicas and cathedrals, museums, archaeological excavations. Culture is at home in our region, and every city or town has something to tell. You can't say you've been to Puglia if you haven't visited Castel del Monte, the Petruzzelli Theater and the Basilica of San Nicola in Bari, the MArTA archaeological museum in Taranto or the historic center of Lecce. From Romanesque to Baroque, from history to art, from traditions to the future, cultural tourism in Puglia is booming.

Among the art and culture locations to visit in Apulia are:
Altamura
Balsignano
Bari
Castel del Monte
Conversano
Galatina
Gioia del Colle
Lecce
Putignano
Rutigliano
Ruvo di Puglia
Taranto
Trani

1.4 Religious tourism in Apulia

Puglia is home to some of the most important patronal festivals in Italy. To name just a few, St. Nicholas in Bari, St. Tryphon in Adelfia, St. Valentine in Vico del Gargano, St. Rocco in numerous municipalities in the region, St. Cataldo in Taranto and St. Oronzo in Lecce. These are not just festivals, but real events that see the faithful arrive from all over Italy. Not only that, the region is rich in cathedrals, churches, basilicas and shrines that are much frequented by tourists for devotion, but also for the architectural charm of these buildings. It is impossible not to mention the exorbitant number of pilgrims who reach San Giovanni Rotondo every year for the worship of Padre Pio of Pietrelcina.

The best-known places of worship in Apulia are:
Adelfia
Bari
Capurso
Conversano
Galatina
Lecce
San Giovanni Rotondo
Taranto

1.5 Green tourism in Apulia

Forests, national parks, countryside, and "lame" are a source of great attraction for green-loving tourists. Vast expanses of centuries-old olive trees, the golden hills for wheat fields, and farms surrounded by unspoiled nature are the backdrop to the trails that connect the locations of Puglia. Among the locations for fans of hiking, trekking and scenic routes we recommend the Gargano National Park, the Alta Murgia National Park, the Bauxite Quarries, the Stornara State Reserve or the Punta della Contessa Salt Pans.

The most beautiful places of green tourism in Apulia are:

Alberobello and the Itria Valley
Bauxite Quarry of Otranto
Costa dei Trulli Ripagnola
Foresta Mercadante
Foresta Umbra
Gravina in Puglia
Lama Balice
Parco dell’Alta Murgia
Parco dei Briganti
Torre Guaceto

1.6 Village tourism in Puglia

Between a walk in the countryside, a dip in the bluest sea and a taste of the tastiest food, tourists in Apulia love to visit villages and old towns. Especially in the last two decades, municipalities in the Apulian hinterland as well as seaside resorts have decided to focus on a revaluation of "old towns" as invaluable tourist assets. Churches, aristocratic palaces, museums, as well as restaurants and souvenir stores characterize the narrow streets of the villages, among which to get lost, walking along the chianche of local stone. Many small towns have turned their historic centers into real stages for cultural festivals and historical revivals.

Among the most beautiful villages in Puglia are:
Alberobello
Casamassima (the Blue Country)
Ceglie Messapica
Cisternino
Galatina
Giovinazzo
Grottaglie
Locorotondo
Martina Franca
Monopoli
Ostuni
Rodi Garganico

  1. Family and pet friendly tourism

Family tourism finds a thriving field in Puglia. There are many facilities and resorts provided with attractions for children. Mind you, not just the sea, which in itself is a great start. There are plenty of attractions for the little ones on vacation in Puglia, unforgettable experiences for an exciting family trip to discover the Heel of Italy.

From cuisine that appeals to every palate to the wonder of the Trulli, from water parks to the Dinosaur Park in Castellana Grotte, in the Province of Bari, to the Briganti Park. If, on the other hand, you are passing through the Gulf of Taranto, you can take your children to the Jonian Dolphin Conservation to see dolphins.

A must is certainly the Zoosafari in Fasano. And then the lights of the illuminations, the animals in the farms, the fireworks of the patronal festivals, the great parks and the endless beaches, everything in Puglia is child-friendly.

Närmaste flygplats: Aeroporto di Foggia "Gino Lisa" - 7,7 km

Our country house is situated at the Podere 114 on the SS90 (national road), which connects Foggia to Naples. We’re 20 minutes far from the Adriatic Sea.

Environment is relaxing, we always had beautiful moments in this place. You know what? City’s pressure seems so far when you walk through the countryside. It’s our county home, most of the year we live in Foggia city-center.
