I am hoping to exchange in Dublin from December through January. Short-term rentals there have been very hard to find, so a home exchange for those weeks would be ideal. Dates are flexible within that window. |

Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
Bergamo is a beautiful historic city about 50 minutes by train from Milan. The upper town, Città Alta, is a walled medieval centre reached by funicular; the lower town is flat, walkable, and well served by buses and trains. Easy day trips include Milan, Lake Como and Lecco, Lake Iseo, and Brescia. Venice is about 2.5–3 hours by train. By car you can be in Switzerland in a couple of hours. Winter brings Christmas markets across Lombardy, plus hiking and ski areas in the mountains above the city.
Nearest Airport: Orio al Serio Bergamo Airport

Solo host near Milan, lakes, and the mountains
I was born in South Africa and moved to Italy to study. I am a mature student finishing my degree, and I live alone in Bergamo. I am fully fluent in English and learning Italian, so communication is easy either way. Day to day life here is local and on foot: the city is very walkable, with good buses and frequent trains, and I spend a lot of time between cafés, the market, and the historic centre. I enjoy good food and can point you toward restaurants I actually like. Bergamo sits at the edge of the Orobie Alps, so hiking and skiing are both close — I do not ski myself, but the valleys and resorts are a real draw in winter. In December and January the city and the wider region fill up with Christmas markets; Milan’s is the big one, about an hour away by train. I am a relaxed, independent host and happy to share practical tips before you arrive.
I need to be in Dublin from December through January for an internship. Short-term rentals for those exact weeks have been very hard to find, which is why I am hoping for a home exchange rather than a flexible holiday swap. Dates can move a little within that window, but the city needs to be Dublin. If you are interested in Bergamo for the winter, or know someone who is, I would be very glad to hear from you.
